PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A public-private partnership was formed to build the Center for the Intrepid, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation and advance training skills facility at the Brooke Army Medical Center located in San Antonio, Texas. The Center for the Intrepid serves the needs of catastrophically disabled military personnel. In the area of occupational therapy, the Center focuses on restoring health and function following serious injury or illness. The Center has incorporated a computer-assisted rehabilitation environment that gives patients the ability to walk or run in virtual-reality, and allows their therapist to track and analyze their prosthetic’s performance with real-time feedback.
